Mafia 1 is an excellent "start from scratch" remake of the first game in the engine used in the 3rd game. It's so good that sadly it means it's all downhill from there if you play in story order and not release date order. Mafia 2 DE is just a upscale of the original M2 game. But that one also has an excellent story. The weirdest part of SA was the OG Loc mission where your character suddenly grew a conscience for like 5 seconds before agreeing to murder someone.
